Hikes with snowshoes are a great way to experience nature in winter.
Come along with us for a week-long hike from refuge to refuge, a winter survival training program, and day or half day trips.
Our snowshoes are in tip-top shape, light and easy to maneuver and we provide collapsible trekking poles.

A private hike in snowshoes is the key to experiencing the intimacy of nature in winter. Many different itineraries are possible depending on your physical capacities and weather conditions on D-day.

The Clarée valley offers an exceptional setting for an itinerant holiday in snowshoes. This itinerary is an immersion in untouched nature, abundant winter fauna and breathtaking views.
Evenings will be spent in comfortable refuges, full of charm and with a reputation for great food.
J1: Sunday – Starting point at Névache and hike in Bois Noir
Reception at the Névache lodge. Free time for lunch. Departure at 2pm for a preliminary snowshoe hike in the Bois Noir. Training on the equipment for avalanche rescue equipment provided (DVA, shovel and probe). Return to the lodge at the end of the afternoon and presentation of the itinerary.

J2: Monday – Clarée valley and ascension into the forest
From Névache, we go up the valley that lies between the forest, the snowy meadows and the banks of the Clarée river. We end the day by climbing to the Ricou mountain hut, located at the edge of the forest and perched high above the valley.

J3: Tuesday – Haute-Clarée and Col des Rochilles
We descend into the forest to reach the banks of the Clarée river, which we follow up to the Drayères mountain hut. After a break that will lighten our backpacks, willing participants will hike up to the Rochilles Pass, the Lac Rond and the Lac du Grand Ban. The setting has a gentleness that contrasts nicely with the surrounding crests and summits which tower over 3000m.

J4: Wednesday – Col des Muandes
For willing participants, we’ll tackle the Col des Muandes: a pass at 2828m which promises a magnificent ambiance of high mountain panoramas, small snow-covered lakes and rolling terrain that is a joy to descend. We’ll return to the mountain hut to join those who chose to spend a quiet morning, and descend to the Laval mountain hut, renowned for its comfort and quality catering.

J5: Thursday – Col du Chardonnet
Gentle descent to the hamlet of Fontcouverte where we begin our ascent through the larch trees towards the Chardonnet mountain hut. After a short break, willing participants will leave with lighter backpacks to climb the Chardonnet pass: a grandiose panorama of the Ecrins summits.
6hr hike, altitude gain +750m and -570m.

J6 : Friday – Casse Pinière traverse – Buffère – Névache
From the Chardonnet mountain hut we cross the wonderful heights of the valley to Buffère hills, where we have lunch before descending back through the forest. We will be back at Névache at 2pm, in good time for the shuttle transfers to the train stations of Briançon and Oulx.

Winter survival training program with a night in an igloo, 2 days
250 € / person
Combat the cold, limit the risks of hypothermia, construct a temporary shelter or an igloo for the night, build a fire on snow, ensure water provisions, call for emergency rescue, and more. Learn how to anticipate the risks and navigate the sticky situations that arise in winter’s grip.
